Self Correcting Sealant Bead Dispense

Key elements:

  1. Collaborative robot

  2. Variable flow dispense system

  3. 3-dimensional profile scanning

  4. Communication hub

The elements needed for the perfect dispense

  • Robot

The selection of the robot is crucial to the success of the project. Robot programming is focused on going to the same exact point over and over again in the most efficient way possible. For a bead dispense you need the path to both accurate and precise. Our goal it to do that in relation to the pert you are dispensing on, not just a preprogramed path and hope for the best.

  • Variable Flow

the rate you dispense has to be matched to all of the variables. As small changes with material viscosity, temperture, and surface tension the pressure and flow need to be adjusted to get ideal bead size. These variables can change several times while dispensing a single bead and making the adjustments on the fly eliminates the need to rework over and over again.

  • 3-Dimensional scanning

Input of what is happening in real time is crucial to producing the best results. utilizing a 3-dimensional scanner to measure the bead and also measure the surface will give you the information needed to make the adjustments required.

  • Processing and communication

The most challenging portion of this system is the decision making and communication. To create the perfect bead by overcoming all of the imperfections the decisions need to be made and executed in milliseconds.
